In other words, you have NEVER been able to stamp it out, it costs the tax payers too much to police in money and man power, and it harms our kids. So for pities sake, Make It Legal. Regulate, clean up, and tax them. Try a better way instead of always doing the same thing. Daa!
Whilst travelling to an appointment the other morning, I listened to the recent events with regard the legalization of prostitution in Canada. A profession that will never cease, and I wondered at the fear that motivates a governement to close their minds to obvious healthy solutions.
It would seem one argument is the fear that prostitution will lower the tone of an area, almost contaminate the standard of an area. I agree we dont wish our families to be exposed to this as the local corner shop, however I believe contamination comes in many forms, A challenge we face is underage sex, in the main by older men. A challenge we face is the spread of disease. Another challenge is violence.
In England two dear ‘Womens Institute’ darlings, conduction much research into this old trade in their area. They travelled to Holland and parts of America where prostitution is legal, and saw first hand what clean, regulated, disease free environments can achieve, and also what fun they were. They also witnessed the lack of underage corner “touting for business”. They had the courage to take a signed petitions to #10 Downing Street and lobby government.
I ask this question. As a man which would you prefer. Taking the risk of AIDS and other sexually transmitted disease, fines and possible imprisionments or, a clean, disease free choice, with no fear of recriminations.
How effective policing would be if a designated area was assigned to this profession, and prostitutes were encouraged to internally monitor and report their findings to the authorities, and do so without the fear.
My last question is for the government. Legal brothels in designated areas would surely take our ladies of the night away from those areas you wish to keep residential etc. and though there may be those who will still flag down a John, with more customers going to healthy regulated brothels, less will be suppporting the corners.
Hey, Revenue Canada would also benefit!.
In Southampton England many years ago, a red light district was designated for prostitution, and taxes were paid. Yes most folk said at the time, the local authorities had become pimps. It is part of life now (excuse the pun), for it has reduced many of the old problems and introduced a better society, one that lives together in greater peace, health, and prosperity for all.
So what is the true reason for illegal brothels?
